My Own Mr. Darcy

Where was Claire Pettibone when I was getting married? Her newest collection just screams Jane Austen, my favorite. This is how I wanted to look on my wedding day, I have had a crush on Mr. Darcy since I was thirteen sigh........

This August, my sweetheart and I will celebrate our ninth wedding anniversary. We had an intimate reception with our closest friends and family. The James House  is situated on the Hudson River in the historical town of Sleepy Hollow. This venue is an amazing and lovely 19th century mansion.

Our guests dined alfresco on the terrace. Garden style flower arrangements graced the tables. I really wanted the flowers to reflect the era of the home; they included a variety of herbs and summer garden flowers.

Our guest enjoyed the details throughout the reception. One big hit was the paper fans, with "The Language of Fans" attached to each one.

All of the planning and fun details really personalized our celebration. Here we are doing our "move", I really had the time of my life! John, you are my own Mr. Darcy, every bit as dashing!!!! Now if I could only get my hands on that amazing gown, Elizabeth Bennet move over!!!

Windowsill Treasures

Every now and then, I wind up with a few spare blooms when I am finished with an event. Although the arrangements are small compared to their larger and lush  "parent", these petite beauties are treasured and reside happily on my kitchen windowsill.
