Niskayuna CO-OP Silent Auction

This little number was donated to an auction held by The Niskayuna Co-OP Nursery School. Proceeds go to benefit the school, and are also donated to The Double H Ranch, which provides programs and support for children and their families who are dealing with life threatening illnesses.

I just couldn't get enough of those gorgeous sweet peas from earlier in the week. I had to have more! What can I say? I am addicted!!! Singing back up to the sweet peas are lush white hydrangea, and a favorite spray rose of mine called "Porcelina", they have a tea stained antique appearance.

Star of the Week

This week was a big one in the Splendido household! Our first grader was finally "Star of the Week" in her class. Miss P has been patiently waiting her turn all year- they go in alphabetical order. For a whole week, she was able to share some of her favorite things with her classmates: pictures, cookies, stuffed animals, and much to my delight, ME! My last career was as a Preschool and Kindergarten teacher, so I was surprised that I was a little nervous to speak in front of the class. Good thing for my beautiful daughter, who, I might add was the best assistant in the world! She carefully handed each flower to me as she wanted them to appear, and decided that we should add pretty pink ribbon, according to Miss P, you can never have too much pink. I also have a weakness for frilly pink things, the sweet peas and ranunculus she chose were fabulous! I may have a budding designer on my hands! Thanks honey for choosing me as your very special person; you are certainly mine!

Ciao Bella

Yesterday, I went to visit my local flower wholesale supplier. Pickings were slim due to the cancellation of SOOO many flights thanks to the volcanic ash from Iceland. I did however manage to score these Splendid Stems of beautiful white mini callas, thistle, lisanthus, tulips, and maiden hair fern. Perhaps I need to add an "In case of natural disasters" clause into my future wedding contracts, just to cover all my bases.

This beauty was donated to the Ciao Bella Fundraiser held in Clifton Park, NY.   For more information on this great cause or to donate please google Friends and Family of Anna Calise Fund.

I just had to take a moment to revisit this bouquet. I love that it is just a little bit wild, the bold colors and rich vevelty texures work so well together. The lambs ear came straight from my garden!

Centerpiece Arrangement Workshop

I recently held a workshop teaching basic floral techniques to achieve a classic round centerpiece. We played with some really beautiful flowers that included Splendid Stems of tulips, lisianthus, stock, snapdragons, purple veronica, wax flower, and accents of silvery dusty miller. I had a room filled with some very talented women, each created a stunning work of art to bring home.

Success!!!!!
