SMP Little Black Book

Yay!!! I was thrilled to receive an invitation to join Style Me Pretty’s exclusive list of preferred wedding vendors, otherwise known as the Little Black Book (this is considered a major nod in the wonderful, crazy wedding world I live in:) ). It is an honor to be listed among some of the best wedding vendors in the country.  If you have not taken the time to peruse the SMP blog, you are missing out on some seriously gorgeous inspiration. Here is a little blurb about the members from their site:

Style Me Pretty’s Little Black Book is a highly edited collection of wedding service providers – from mom and pop boutiques to A-Listers. Bottom line, these vendors are the best of the best. For more information about the Little Black Book, including a detailed description of how vendors are selected and get listed, see our Little Black Book FAQ.

Oh they are also publishing their first book, I need to reserve a copy pronto!!!!!

Sharon & Trevor - Emma Willard & 11 North Pearl Wedding

Sharon and Trevor were married on a beautiful October day in the chapel at Emma Willard. They later celebrated with a reception at 11 North Pearl in downtown Albany. I had so much fun with these two. We had been planning together for 17 months prior to their wedding. I miss them. Both are librarians, so we wanted to include subtle touches of their passion for books. They also love cats, but that could have been a little tricky : )

Sharon carried an organic modern autumnal bouquet that had yummy cymbidium orchids, garden roses, chocolate cosmos, parrot tulips, oak leaf ivy, and after dark agonis.

I just love a little reckless abandon in a bridal bouquet. It is a fresh approach to the round nosegays, but a compromise to a full blown cascade.

The engagement ring of her maternal and paternal grandmothers adorned the bouquet handle. I love adding personal touches to a bouquet. There is so much interaction between a bride and her bouquet - I just think it is a nice way to keep dear ones close to you.

Her bridesmaids carried similar style bouquets with the addition of seeded eucalyptus.

Orchid nosegays and a variety of wrist and pin on corsages were given to the mothers. Each wanted a different style. I think it is nice to ask what they prefer - some love to wear them, others not so much.

If they do plan on wearing them, I make the work as light as possible. Corsages can be cumbersome, and unkind to certain dress materials - just something to think about.

The guys donned simple orchid boutonnieres with a tailored black ribbon wrap - very handsome!

The grounds of Emma Willard School in Troy, New york are impressive. It almost makes me wish I could go back to high school, ALMOST. More on that thought in a future blog.

I love the stone faces on the exterior of the chapel. Next time, they are getting floral head wreaths.

The inside of the chapel is gorgeous, but I will have to share pictures in a future blog entry from their amazing photographer Matt Ramos (also a parent to twins, yay!) - lighting is tricky here and at 11 North Pearl!...but for now here are some of my pictures from these locations.

GASP! Carnations! Yup I did it again! I just love them massed together! They were accented by antique hydrangea and after dark agonis for the ceremony.

Just some pretty shots of the campus and chapel. I grew up in Peekskill, NY - so  naturally I think of the 80's TV show The Facts of Life when at an all girls school.

Sharon and Trevor made good use of their library connection and obtained vintage books and card catalog drawers that were used to display seating cards and flowers!

Two different centerpiece styles adorned the tables. I had a good time pairing some of the books together. I loved the contradiction of Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farms and Madame Bovary.....

Thank you so much Sharon and Trevor for including me in your wedding! I had a blast getting to know you both and planning the details for the decor. I wish you many years of happiness, and yes I will be coming in the spring to collect your lilacs : ) !!!
